VALLEY DROUGHT 2015 - Cities May Get Increased Water Restrictions

VALLEY DROUGHT 2015 - Cities May Get Increased Water Restrictions

Brand new numbers are out on water usage, and as a state we're doing horribly.

Water use was down almost 3% in February. That may seem good, but usage was down over 20% in December.

Who's hogging all the water?  Turns out Clovis is guzzling it down. Water usage there was actually up 3%.

Fresno was down 7%.

And Visalia was down over 14%.

The biggest offenders are in San Diego and Los Angeles. Those areas use almost 70% of the water in the state.

Now, Governor Brown's plans to drop water usage by 25% could be going up for areas that use more than their fair share.

People who live in Clovis, Exeter, Hanford, Kerman, Kingsburg, Lemoore, Los Banos, Merced and Visalia could be looking at mandatory 35% water cuts. Those cities are on a list of over 100 who use what the state calls too much water per person. Because of that, state officials will decide later this month whether to hit these communities with stricter water laws.

Clovis Big Hat Days 2015

The Table Mountain Casino Big Hat Days is almost here and is bigger and better than ever – expanding to an additional block in Old Town. Over 300 craft and food booths will fill the streets of Old Town Clovis on April 11th and 12th.

Visit crafters and vendors from 21 states as they sell their wares. Everything from jewelry to photography to home goods will be available.

Hungry? No problem! Take care of your appetite with terrific barbeque, freshly baked cobblers, funnel cakes, corn dogs, kettle korn and cheesecake on a stick dipped in chocolate. And, remember, the shaved ice.

The food court will again be located on Bullard Avenue leading to the Michelob Ultra Beverage Garden.  The kids carnival is this year moved to Fourth Street thanks to the new Centennial Plaza at Bullard.

SATURDAY APRIL  11th : 9 A.M. – 6 P.M.

SUNDAY APRIL 12th : 9 A.M. – 5 P.M.

ADMISSION AND PARKING ARE FREE!
