Mike Lane Resigns from City Council | News
Visalia City Council Member Michael Lane has announced his resignation from the Visalia City Council, effective May 31st, 2011. Lane accepted the position of Policy Director with the Non-Profit Housing Association of Northern California based in San Francisco. He will be moving to the Bay Area with his family.
During his time with the Visalia City Council, Lane promoted the Economic Stimulus Program that the council adopted in 2010, and was a strong advocate for encouraging purchases.
Lane was elected to the council in November 2009, after serving two terms with the Visalia Unified School District, and was the chairman of the board in 2004.
Mike currently serves on the Board of Governors of the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, the Council of Cities, the Board of Directors for the Economic Development Corporation for Tulare County.
The city council will look into filling Lane's position at their meeting on June 6th. His term ends November 2013. The council has the option of appointing someone to the unexpired term, or calling a special election,
