Unfortunately, these same decorations may increase your chances of fire.  Following a few simple fire safety tips can keep electric lights, candles and the ever popular Christmas tree from creating a tragedy.

Franey's Design Center Going Back to its Roots

Franey's Design Center Going Back to its Roots

Franey’s Design Center will now be focusing solely on what its known best for the last 57 years – flooring and window coverings. The business partners have decided to close the furniture side of the business while continuing with flooring and window coverings only.

For the past 22 years, Annie Giles has been the cornerstone of Franey’s Fine Furniture as the lead interior designer. Annie has recently decided to cutback on her day-to-day responsibilities to pursue other interests. With Annie’s departure, Dave and Mark Franey have decided to focus their efforts on the longstanding flooring and window side of the company.

“We want to reiterate to the community that we are still their flooring and window covering company, we’re just stepping away from the furniture side of the business,” said Dave Franey.

Other changes include the departure of Tom Wedel, a “top-notch carpet mechanic” as described by Franey, who retired recently after over 39 years of service.

"Sofa Art" Tours the Golden State

Sofa Art returns in its 16th annual exhibition at Arts Visalia February 2nd through February 25th. This year, Sofa Tours the Golden State, and artists and non-artists alike will share all their fun-loving creativity in this tongue and cheek community art event. An opening reception will be held Friday, February 4th from 6 to 8pm at Arts Visalia, located at 214 East Oak Ave.
Visalia, CA 93291. Attendance is free and open to the public.

The first Sofa Art Show was held in 1996 as a playful response to an unflattering depiction of Visalia's local art scene as described by a local newspaper writer. Sofa Art Co-Founder Varian Mace, then an art instructor at College of the Sequoias, shared the article with her classes and challenged them to make some ''real sofa art'' in response.
